The Sisters have taught Catechism, Culture, and Language to the
children of families who emigrated from Africa to the United States.
They provide religious instruction and Sacrament preparation for
First Holy Communion and Confirmation.
In 2003, one
additional sister made the journey to join this new community that
was now established in the Washington DC area.
In 2004, a request
was granted to bring two more sisters to help in their mission of
outreach to the elderly and support for families who have lost a
loved one, or other types of assistance, under the guidance of their
Pastor, for whoever needs help. They are involved with the Sacred
Heart of Mary since 2000, Bible Study, and Mary Mother of God Solidarity.
In 2003, the
congregation purchased a house that serves as a residence for some
of the sisters as well as a Formation Center for new sisters coming
into the community, and a place to conduct continuing religious
experiences for the Ethiopian/Eritrean Catholic community, such
as Bible Study, Retreats, Adoration.
In 2003, the
Daughters of St. Anne established the Association of Blessed Rosa
Gattorno (the Ethiopian and Eritrean Community) to continue the
work toward her beatification.
The community
was offered the opportunity to staff a Day Care Center in Camp Springs,
Maryland, where they reside in the local convent. The Center is
a multi-cultural learning environment for 3 to 5 year old children.
The Daughters
of St. Anne is involved with different groups within the Ge'ez Rite
Church like Kidane-Mehret and Sacred Heart of Mary.
Our
ministry extends beyond the Ethiopian/Eritrean communities. Our
order’s arms extend to many countries around the world. We
invite people of any nationality or culture into our caring ministries.
The Daughters
of St. Anne take their ministries wherever there is a cry for help:
- Education,
